This is a question frequently asked by an individual wanting to renovate or fit-out a space. Do I need to spend the extra money on a consultant when i can save that little bit and spend it on the project? Well, here are some reasons why you may want to consider hiring an Interior Design Consultant:

  1. I have a few ideas but how do I realise it?
Have you heard yourself ask this before? Well, Neko Designs can help you here. Wanting to renovate your space, you may have bought many design magazines. Every picture shows an element that you like. An splash of this, a bit of that, mix it all together and wallah! Unfortunately, when it comes to interior designing, it does not quite work like that. We are here to advise you about what works and what doesn’t. After an initial meet, we will put together a little presentation for you so that your thoughts are on paper and you can see your ideas a little more clearly.
  2. I need to get my house completed by Chinese New Year but I am too busy at work. It is already August. How am I going to juggle work AND oversee the construction of my house?
This is yet another worry. Time. We are here to take this burden off you. We will oversee the project and report to you on a daily or weekly basis. We will try our best to work around your busy schedule. Should there be any decisions needed, we will be there to advise you.
  3. I want this cabinet doors to be this height and I want the drawers inside to be in this material. How do I make sure that  things are done according to what I want?
We detail things for you via drawings. We will show you the materials that you may have thought about and want to use. Once you are satisfied, then WE will communicate it to the contractors.
  4. I have heard so much about contractors. My friend told me that his contractor told him he was getting a solid surface kitchen top but he ended up with a laminated top and the contractor said that that was what he had specified. How do I ensure that this does not happen to me?
Dealing directly with contractors can be a major headache. Without proper drawings, specifications and paper work (ie. written instructions), they can twist their words and change things as they like. And you have no way to prove otherwise. We take this burden off you. We suffer the headache for you. Everything instructed will be in writing and all correspondences will be carbon copied to you so that you know exactly what is going on.
  5. How much is it all going to cost?
Sound familiar? We will prepare a detailed Bill in Quantities and an estimate for your perusal. Yes, interior designers are ‘quantity surveyors’ too. This will give you an overall feel as to what exactly you are spending on and where you may want to spend less on and what you really want to splurge out on.

We hope that this helps you with your decision as to whether or not you need a consultant.
